A very warm wish to you and yours for a great holiday season. I am pleased to have watched your successes and growth, both in business and using your computers smarter. I wish you more of the same for next year!
The holidays are a time of reflection and gratitude. So I thank all of you, clients, friends and family, for your custom and support of Your Company Matters Ltd.
I will be taking a short break this holiday season. Your Company Matters will be closed from December 23rd to January 5th inclusive. Feel free to email and I will get back to you in the new year.
Urban Legends Uncovered
Did you know that the modern day image of Santa Claus was created as a Coca-Cola promotion?
In Canada, Santa’s post code is HOH OHO.
Truth or Fiction? There are many websites that help you know. Have a look at www.snopes.com
As well as Urban Myths they also inform about current Computer Viruses and scams. Check it out and keep your computer well.
A Present for Your Computer
What has your computer asked Santa for this Christmas? If it seems to run very slowly it may want more RAM. RAM is memory you can buy and have installed by a computer store like PC Systems or Mandy Computing. Most new computers today start with 4 GB Ram. Some folks out there are still using 482 KB Ram. Newer systems need more RAM to operate.
Find out how much RAM you have by right clicking on the My Computer Icon on your desktop and choosing Properties. OR you may need to click on My Computer and choose System Properties. OR you can call me and I can help!
GB, KB, what does it mean to me?
Computers work in units called bytes. In the old days (like when I started using computers!) something that was 128 KB or 128,000 bytes was real fast. Nowadays hand held devices, like MP3 Players, iPods, and so on are measuring in gigabytes (GB). Just remember, KB is kilobyte or 1,000 and GB is gigabyte or 1,000,000,000.
Happy New Year

Have a safe one!
